Bay of Stoer Suevite is form of Suevite that comes from the North-West coast of Scotland in the regions around Ullapool. Bay of Stoer Suevite is a rock made of partly melted sandstone and miscellaneous other minerals, forming a breccia containing natural glass within, referred to as tektites. Bay of Stoer Suevite formed roughly 1.2 billion years ago, making it one of the oldest known examples of tektites. While this material had been known of for many years, its origin had been in question until recently when teams from the Universities of Aberdeen and Oxford found evidence of an impactite in the area of Ullapool.
